On the first Friday of each
month a group of local
Washington DC area artists
participate in Free Art Friday
DC. Each participating artist
places original art of whatever
type they choose in a public
location somewhere in the
District of Columbia area. They
will attach a FAFDC flyer or a
smaller FAFDC tag, to the
artwork. That artwork is free
for the taking for anyone that
wishes to take the piece home
and share it with all they know.
Please, if you like the artwork,
take it home or give it as a gift
to an art lover in your life. But,
please, don’t take it if you do
not want it.
If you want to make art and participate in FAFDC here is
the basic info:
- Create something.
- The art should be weatherproof, it is going to be outside.
- No web address on the front of the pieces, but by all
means feel free to include any contact information or
other information in a place that is out of normal view.
(For instance, on the back of a painting.) Or, you could
include your information on the flyer or tag attached to
the work. (Click the link above to print one of those.)
- Place your art anywhere in the District of Columbia, or
surrounding area, that you wish. Attach our small
FAFDC tag or place a FAFDC flyer with your work so
that everyone knows that the work is free. (Click the link
above to print one of those.)
- Post photos of your work on www.facebook.com/FAFDC
in the spot you have chosen, possibly with some visual
clues of it's location. Give hints as to the artwork's
location, also, this way it's a challenge for people to find
it. Also Tweet the photo and hints with the hash tag
#FAFDC.
